ARCTIC NOMAD

Manitoba, Canada, 1996

A male polar bear waits for the sea ice to freeze. Every year the sea ice forms later in the fall and melts earlier in the spring, leaving bears stranded on land for longer periods of time. As long as there is sea ice, bears like this one will continue to dominate the food chain in the Arctic.
